Childlike faith

Eva prayed a prayer yesterday that stopped me in my tracks. It was short and simple, but powerful.

You see, we had plans to go to the “big pool.” When she’s excited for something, it’s all she can think about.  And no lie, she asked about it the moment she awoke. Her eyes weren’t even fully open when she said, “what about the pool?”

She was essentially asking, “okay, Mom… when are we going?” But there was a problem. It was raining.

She was disappointed, so I told her to pray.

Her prayer?

“Father God, I thank you for the rain to stop. In Jesus name, amen.”

That’s it. So what about it was so powerful?

Her faith. She didn’t ask for the rain to stop, she thanked God that He would stop the rain.

How do we pray? Do we pray and believe? Mark 11:22-24 says, “And Jesus answered them, “Have faith in God. Truly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and thrown into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says will come to pass, it will be done for him. Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.”

When we have faith and trust in God, we can have confidence that He can do the impossible. When you thank Him in advance… that’s faith. Eva believed God could stop the rain. And, He did.

Lord, increase our faith.
